The ones meant to always

The ones meant to always love you

End up hating you the most

And the place meant to be your home

Turns against you like an angry ocean beats a coast

Those sworn to protect you

Will try to drown you

Those sworn to uplift you

Will beat you down

A child's world is happy

But that world soon has you bound

In its clutches you will suffocate

In its clutches you will bleed

Till your heart has almost stopped

And your head you've no more need

But the cuts will turn to scars

Yes, they'll only make you tougher

You'll be a sad and lonely person

With a tortured aching muscle

The sun will still bring joy

The flowers still smell sweet

But all the stars will cry in agony

At the earth's unyielding feet.
