To the ones we lost, to the reason we lost them, to the reason we'll be okay

Dear lost ones,

How are you? Are you okay? Are you safe? Everyone you had to leave behind asks these questions everyday. It’s impossible to know all the answers to the questions that I guess will never be answered. As we drive past the last place your body will forever lay, we are forever reminded that the memories will never fade away. The love, laughs, tears and sorrow we have shared will now lay bare, in your resting place. The stone placed above your bodies read a short phrase of who you were to the world and when you walked the ground the living take for granted. You all were so much more than a stone in soil. Your life changed the ones of those around you. So, rest peacefully my loves. Dance with the stars and make music with the sun. Rest on the clouds and watch over everyone. For although you are gone, you will always be remembered. We will remember your smell, your smile and the jokes we used to make together. We will remember you. We will live for you. Even though you are gone, how lucky was I to know someone as wonderful as you.

Dear the reason,

Oh how complicated you are. All of the frustration, sorrow and weakness you have caused. The worst part about this is that we will never understand you. Our loved ones will never be able to change you. Only horrible tragedies have come from you. We will never forgive you, nor will anyone be able to explain you. If only you and the rest of you would simply disappear and never return to another family, ever again.

Dear the reason we will be okay,

Thank you. For all the pain in this world, you are the reason we can cope. You are the reason they can dance with the stars and make music with the sun. Where would they be, oh where would they be, without you. Sometimes we look to you for an answer as to why you let the things that happen, happen but you heal us not hurt us. So, thank you for the comfort. For the tears you wiped away as time went on. For the stitches you put on our broken hearts. Thank you.
