Only In Dreams

There she was,

Young and broken and afraid.

Hiding behind a mask

Built to save face.

Depression rained heavy,

Heavier and heavier by the day.

Not an end in sight,

No way to end the pain.

Every person who built her up

Just to knock her down,

Every man she dared to trust,

Every friend she dared to have,

Lead to this one moment.

In this moment sight went away

Hearts melted

Pain faded

In this moment she was whole.

For too many years to count

She hid behind her mask,

She let the world fall,

She built her walls.

For too many years to count

She was alone in a crowd,

Covered by her shroud

Afraid to be loud.

Afraid to be herself,

Afraid to cause a scene,

Afraid of a world

Which couldn’t see.

But in this moment,

He was hers.

In this moment,

She was his.

And in these moments

Few and far between,

In these moments,

Together they stayed

Sight Unseen.

Together they stayed,

In their dreams.
