The Only Friend I've Ever Had
Poetry is a spontaneous bloom of creative thought.
It consumes your being and expresses your faults.
Whether it relieves the presence of pain or death...
In the end, it's all you have left;
To spill your heart on a page and watch your words flow away.
Your feelings hide on the page alone.
They're waiting for someone who cares to read them today.
To see if they can make your thoughts their own;
This personifies poetry to me...
and led me to conceive a song to set me emotions free.
When I found my best friend cold and dry...
It led me to ask myself, "Why, life? Why?"
To lose the one's you love...
Only makes you realize that everything else is not above.
Everything means nothing when the love is gone...
So hear-me-out and remember my song:
Blood-shot eyes and a dampened face,
This pain has drawn unknown emotion.
When I saw her there lying in her place
My eyes drowned helplessly in an ocean…
Her body stiff as a lifeless rock,
She lies calm in a nostalgic position;
Spread out on her side, paws locked,
Life and death came to a collision…
Her innocent image so inviting
I laid my hand to stroke her fur;
Though, nothing there was slightly delighting,
So I swallowed sadness and said to her…
“Come back… Come back”
In a solemn voice oh-so sad.
As I saw her lying there in that sack
I lost the only friend I've ever had…
