Only Human

I look in the mirror

                                                 Point out all my flaws

I’m not perfect

Society’s taught me that

I don’t have the perfect smile

The perfect hair

Stomach

Eyes

Legs

Waist

I’m not perfect

Food has become my enemy

Every savory bite brings me closer to a body I hate

Its claws have wrapped me into its iron grip

There’s no escaping

Weight has become more than just numbers

It’s become a way of life

100 calories, 200 calories

More than I need

I’m not perfect

But I’m okay with my flaws

I’m human after all
