only if.
If I could say the right words to make your mind tick
The world wouldn't be an infectious virus that flows through your body
A tyrant that justifies what's acceptable, who's acceptable
I say fly little bird
That's only if you'd listen just for a second
I can twist your mind to force you to see that blood stain on the street from the man the cops beat
The news you tune out, missed it
Another robbery and a mother craddles her child who's no longer breathing
This toxic state that pulls morals apart
You say the weak can't fly
Only if that sheild you put up comes tumbling down when death is right at your doorstep
Pounding until the wall crumbles
The gunshots right outside but you turn up the volume on the televison
Little ones peak through the blinds, staring wide eyed
A couple on their honeymoon shot, the man gets away with a smirk
Children question death and yet you teach them it's a way of justice
Tell me, is justice served for the college students who passed when a classmate thought a shotgun was the answer?
Did that little boy have it coming for him when he was snatched from the playground
Body left in the woods to be discovered by hunters
We are spoonfed these promises that the way of order will indeed get better
Now let me ask you this
While the innocent are killed off, why do you sit on your couch hazily believing in a false world
Meanwhile your child is being followed by a man with bad intentions
You don't look out the window to see him pull her into his truck
Fear struk in her eyes, screaming for her life
You only watch the news while a tear rolls off your face
You claim this is reason, fair
Only if you'd realize that this is no dream, but reality
