The Only One

You saw me didn't you?

You alone saw me wallowing in these endless waters.

The me that is unable to hide behind beautiful features.

My pain is no equal to yours

My mind torments me more than you see.

written across my entire face.

The skin of my body pulls like wax

thin and tight

so uncomfortable that I wish for it to shed itself.

Yet here you are asking and probing for the demons that plague me.

In the back of my mind I don't want you to know.

I don't want you to see it.

But I want you to help me.

I wanted others to see me and save me.

Were you that someone who was going to help me fight it?

After I lied?

I sent you away with transparent words and still I wanted you.

Stay here with me; hold my hand.

I wanted you who saw to fight, push, and rescue me

Because you alone saw me drowning.
