Only One

Please waste your words on me

Like they are the only ones I’ll ever hear.

Look me in the eyes.

Tell me I am worth something,

Even if I know I’m not.

You are the only thing that keeps me here,

And you’re not even real.

You never were.

And how can I know what I want

If the only thing I’ve ever wanted was never really there.

Be here for me,

For every breath that I take,

For every mistake that passes me by.

I need you,

Even if everyone else can’t see that.

Give me a voice,

Let it ring off these walls.

I need to know that I’m not the only one,

Because if I am,

There is no point.

All we want is for someone to realize how broken we are.

Especially if we say we’re fine,

Because I know I’m not.
