Only the Start

Listen to the words I am saying to you,

For this time around these words are true.

I know you have loved other men who have lied,

But I can assure you I am not that guy.

"How? Why? Would he really lie?

I know that I love him but what does it mean,

when he says 'I love you' like the image in my dreams?"

I know these are the thoughts that swirl in your head,

as you look away with your cheeks glowing red.

Because I love you, you are the only woman I see,

and I thank God every day that you had chosen me.

For just as much as you fear those words,

I have been with women who would kiss another afterwards

"How? Why? How could she lie?"

Were the thoughts in my head as I told her goodbye.

She never loved me and now I can see,

There was nothing that was wrong with me.

Some people are bad and really don't see

What the word love is really supposed to mean.

And can make those longing for those three words,

feel like their own understanding is the one that is backwards.

But let me assure my love, my sweet,

that there was a reason for us to meet.

Love really exist and I have proof,

and my dear, It is as assuring as a sheltering roof.

I am the proof my one and only love,

I know you can feel it, we fit like a glove.

And I will continue to say it till my dying day,

for I know this feeling will never go away.

Because I love you, I hope you can see

just how much you truly mean to me.

I will be there to hold you, kiss you, and wipe all of your tears,

as well as protect you from all that you fear.

Because I love you my dear with all of my heart,

and this peom here is only the start.
