Only You

Controlling.

Manipulative.

Disgrace.

All of the hurtful words said to me

"That's who will ever be" they would say

But how can they know this?

They've never once took the time to talk

They've never once supported me

They've never once asked questions

All they've ever done is assume

They assume I'm just like her

The person that everyone hates the most

They pretend they know me

Inside and out

But the truth is that they don't

They don't understand how I feel

I can't express myself

In a way I need to be seen or heard

They can't even begin to comprehend

How big my dreams are

How I need to take action in what I believe

Or how I can love someone without judgement

How I could accept anyone

For being the way they are

Imperfections and all

They need an explanation.

They need an excuse.

They need the control.

But no one will ever

Tell me who I am supposed to be

The one person who truly knows

Is you
