An Open Conversation
Too much to say and yet these lips haven’t spoken,
It’s these monstrous eyes and these ideas are awoken,
With their stares and their judgements all pointed at me
At last they keys on the board are my adventurous token
To freedom. My thoughts are at last loud enough to be heard,
To be seen, to be felt, to be cuddled and churned
To be mixed with your feelings and bring them about
At last my small voice and next is your turn
I needed a way to communicate a sadness inside
The anger, the loss no longer relieved if I cried
And to show how excited I was if they knew
That being myself was something I held with pride
I really just needed to make others listen,
I can see the glisten in their eyes with my words on a mission
If these words just lined up perfect enough to appeal
Nothing else would catch their ears and I’d win by omission
The reward is their hearts, their undivided opinion
To be away from societal rule and dominion
I needed an open space to be myself and let them too
Be open with me until the poem was done.
