An Open Heart

There is a pain in my chest

The kind love can't ignore

A coldness about the room

And you are the source

Empty promises slip through my fingers grasp

A frail redemption that would never quite last

Chill in my bones a tear in my eyes

An open heart's final threatening demise

A failed attempt at the very best

A love that swore to be contempt

Wrap me up in your warm sweatered lies

While I die to hear the very truth inside

Stolen feelings that can't be safely returned

Little life lessons that may never be learned
