Open Heart
I lost myself because I loved you
I didn’t love myself because I loved you
You became my world and I was just living in it
I shouldn’t have ever let you in
I let you do things because of love
Lost something I held close thinking you were closer
You knew your effect you had on me
I shouldn’t have ever let you in
Being with you made me the happiest I’d ever been
Having you in my arms was the warmest I’ve ever felt
Without you is the emptiest feeling I’ve ever had
I shouldn’t have ever let you in
Now you left me with questions
Questioning my worth
Questioning my faith
I shouldn’t have ever let you in
I tried so hard to keep you around
Made promises of “it doesn’t have to mean anything”
But at the end I felt everything
I shouldn’t have ever let you in
I let you in
You let me down
Chose another girl
I shouldn’t have ever let you in
I’m learning to love myself
To let my heart not be bitter
You didn’t deserve me
I shouldn’t have ever let you in
