An "open" mind

Romans 8:5    New English Translation

5 For those who live according to the flesh have their outlook shaped by[a] the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit have their outlook shaped by the things of the Spirit.

The channel of an open mind can experience to receive the truth

From listening to preaching or as God’s children see

Some truth is first received through our intellect

Before it reaches the Spirit, where it gets proved to be

If our mind is full of prejudice; the truth will not enter in

If a mind is closed complete darkness is inside

Truth will not force a way in for what has light to do with darkness

And only God can help there, and that ought to give you a fright

An open mind, however, is a living entity

It breathes life itself and sees an opportunity

Hope is here available, and help is by its side

It’s like a gift from Heaven, a peek of Eternity

An open mind lets the truth enter so the Spirit can illuminate

And it renders truth profitable to be guided through in life

So influenced from the outside and has to be digested

And in such properly classified to be added to life’s file

Thought is the seed of action, carelessness here leads to sin

So our thoughts need regulation and should never run wild

The question is, however, do our thoughts originate inside

Are some planted from the outside where no control is filed?

We can control, however, when darkness wants to enter

To kick under the butt and out of the door of our heart

We never should then reason or not even get involved

For it is not any part of us, so let Jesus do His part
