Opinionated
My whole life, I've been so quick to hide behind my friends as shields to be able to think for myself.
Too afraid to let them down, I've never taken off the mask I wear every day to hide how misshapen I really am,
So shy my entire childhood that at 18 I still don't talk to strangers- even if they're my own age.
So afraid to break out of my shell that each time there's a crack, I glue it shut to keep out the light.
But I've been crushed.
I've been stepped on.
Now people walk all over me.
I'm vulnerable. A liar. A fake.
But I'm such a good actress that nobody can tell that they've destroyed me.
Now I'm so used to just going with the flow, I don't know how to stand up for myself.
But more and more I see it...
The size of each shoe that tap dances on me,
The brand that calls me out for not being good enough to wear their product, so they simply run over me,
The different colors that I thought were all equal, yet still squeak as they walk along the floor and over my crippled body.
And that's when I become a rock.
Now I'm nobody's cushion, nobody's go-to. More like go away.
Because now when they step on me, I stick my sharp edge in their foot, or make some fall on their face so I sit right in front of them.
So they can see what they've done to me, and how opinionated I've become.
