Opportunity Cost

Thank God for the tears

I am grateful for all my fears

I owe my challenges and struggles much gratitude,

For if it weren’t for them, I wouldn’t be this woman with all the attitude

Thank you, God, for the bump you gave me when I was not feeling steady

Because it introduced two adoptive parents when I was not ready,

A chance to learn,

A chance to for some growth to earn

I look forward to the opportunities that lie ahead,

The challenges that I do not look upon with dread,

But with ambition,

Towards an education, my next expedition

Now it is my turn to give back

I must not let opportunity to travel, slip through the crack

That is why I will study energy policy

In Europe, to gain other perspectives with modesty

I hope to give back to humanity

So that they can have a habitat without too much calamity

Climate change is in full swing,

And so are goals to stop this thing.
