Optimism is for Children

As a child I never really consider

My life without my parents

It’s like a “Given” in Geometric equations

They will always be around;

But that is the mentality of a child.

Eventually children grow up

And that mentality of a child

Is replaced

With the mentality of an adult

No longer an optimist

But a realist…

Yet the reality of life without my parents

Is a reality I am unable to conjure;

So in reality,

Have I ever grown up then?
