Oragami Summer

Winter watches through the window,

Autumn knocks upon the door.

Summer lazes in the parlor,

Spring creeps up through the creaky floorboards.

I hear your laughter,

Smell your dawn,

Reach out for your light.

You are the stars,

The great beyond--

You are the burning bright.

I'll follow in your shadowy wake,

The splattered ink of each heartbreak,

The gentle curve of pencil led,

The paper scraps, the hope and dread.

Yet the fragile, trembling hand

That you hold out to me

Is every season, every second

That was and still will be.

Bruised and bloodied and beautiful--

You are poetry.
