Orange juice
"I am the master of my fate, i am the the captain of my soul" -Invictus. Throughout highschool i had my ups and downs. Just as anyone else i have made mistakes and choices that will effect my forever. Ive been through emotional storms, and just as ive been hurt ive hurt others. But that id what makes us human. Thats just a sneak peak, and that life doesnt get easier and it shouldnt. But we shouldnt go into life trying to beat it. Im just trying to stay in the fight.
During my first year of high school i was dealing with alot of personal fighting. I wasnt just hanging out with the wrong group but i was starting to become that group. I wasnt ever a promplem student, i simply never wanted to go to school. I began to slack so much my GPA was a 1.5. To me it didnt matter, because i was constantly called stupid so much i began to believe it. Though i was far from stupid, the things i was doing and my grades proved those people right. So i made sure my sophomore year wouldnt be the same.
Sophomore year i began to find a love and passion for music, and music saved my life. I never knew the power that came with it and how it would change my life for the better. They say good things can come from a change, now i am a believer. I began to love writing wheather it was music, poetry, or my story. And with that love i won my first and the first "To Kill A Mocking Bird" Global Scholarship. I begun to notice the business in it all. I started to see how our whole life is a business plan. Everyday you have a boss wheather that is a work boss or a parent. They told you what to do, how to do it, and when to have it done. It had been this way our entire lives. But i started to play my cards right and fell inlove with this business. Now my goals had changed. I would be the master of my own fate. I would be my own boss and run it all one day.
Junior year became the hardest year for me. Not just cause like everyone else, that is the year when you get ready to take the biggest test that decides your future. But for me this was the year i got back into the school i was kicked out of freshman year. I had worked everyday sophomore year as hard as i could to get back into the school. But when the time came to go back i started to question if this was what i really wanted. I was nervous, scared, but mostly proud. Because i knew i had proved so many wrong. But When i came back i felt all but proud. I felt out of place, and as if everyone was just questioning me. I was always asked "But how? How did you make it back? How do you come back from a 1.5 -3.8? How was the traveling? Did you sneak back in?" It all had just become too much. But i knew that god has a business plan for me, and I had to see it through.
So at last i had made it to my senior year. And it feels good. It feels good to know ive made it this far when so many thought i wouldnt. It felt good to see that those who that said that this was no place for me are no somewhere else in no place. It feels good to know i have a plan and i will execute it. But the best thing is that i made it. Now i prepare for my next steps in college and life and i am ready.
My entire life is a business plan. Things didnt always go as expected. I failed in some areas, and i have succeeded. Every choice you make is a gamble in life and in business, and in both the odds are already against me as a black young man trying to make it in the business world. "I am the master of my fate and i am the captain of my school" when life gives you lemons you make orange juice and leave the world wondering how you did it.
