Orange seeds

Lunch is quiet. cafeteria, empty. I'm alone, the orange tempts me. It's voice rings in my ear, Eat me dear, Drink my blood, take my life, Only spare the seeds inside, Spread them and let them grow, Let my children know, I love them and this is my sacrifice, To keep them safe, keep their life. And all the while I wonder, Why l was a hunter, Why I killed and killed, All that blood I spilled, And yet my purpose it to preserve, Is this the gratitude I deserve. If I deserved it wouldn't the world be great, Filled with trees, but not with hate, But here I am reaping the reward, Their calls of help left ignored.
