Orchid and the Waves

I am the orchid.

Life is the wave.

Every morning, the wave floods over me

And twists itself around my stem

I stand tall and protect my petals and stamen

Yet, I bend to prevent from splitting

Even this lonely orchid

Trapped in secluded waters

Exhibits flexibility when the waves rush and gush

Threatening to rip it in half

When I start to crumble under hardship

The orchid dances to the waves’ music

As it waits patiently, with thoughts of serenity

For the waves to rest

The orchid survives

The orchid prospers

The orchid rises and looks toward the sun

The orchid teaches me about perseverance

Through distress and sorrow

I imitate the orchid

With persistence and purpose

I remember my ambitions

I only bend to prevent destruction

And eagerly wait

For the sunshine to caress my skin, the flowers to blossom,

And the waves to slowly and peacefully retire to the sea

After all, I am the orchid.

Life is the wave.
