Oregon (Part 2)

I arrived in Oregon

after 16+ hours -

and it was like a breath of fresh air

familiar faces, all smiles

it was the most welcoming thing

I had in a long time.

I also saw her

and her first-born

and it was like a piece of me fell apart

because she finally had a real child

and I knew I'd been replaced

but at the same time

it was like a piece of me caught aflame

and I knew I would love that child

with an intensity

that I didn't think

was possible.
