An Original

On the day I die,

I only hope to say

That I have lived my life

In my own way.

I dream of being an original,

But don’t wish to stand out.

I want to be my own person

And have no doubt.

My life is a blank canvas

That wishes to be painted on.

One day it will be full of color

And my life will come to an end.

But for those last few moments,

I hope I am in awe

Of the beauty, flaws, and life

That is given to us all.
