Origins

I am from rhythms and beats
From gatherings and gossip
I am from the jungles of concrete
From corners filled with music
Jazz and rock that sounded like heaven
I am from style
From red carpet to catwalk
Cameras flashing
The limelight as sweet as an apple
I am from family
From nights of laughter and food
I am from friends
From sisters to enemies back to sisters again
I am from love
Shown through discipline and compassion
I am me.
