Orphans
We all have burning questions
branded in our young minds
that we know will never be answered.
We all have hopes and dreams
housed in our lonely hearts
that we know will never be reality.
We all have doubts and worries
becoming stronger, enveloping us,
that we know will inevitably become true.
We all have different beliefs we cling to
when there's nothing tangible left
but we know that those are empty too.
Our eyes shine with unshed tears
that want so badly to escape
but we know they never will.
Our hands shake with fear
that we will never have a home
and we know it's always been that way.
Our bodies weak and feeble
from lack of food and water
and we know this will never change.
Our hearts are slowly turning to stone
void of all emotion and feeling
and we know we can never be saved.
Our last hope calling above to the heavens
asking for a chance to live
but we're ignored, and we slowly, painfully die.
Where is your God now?
