Ostara's Harvest

Last autumn I was not the girl who now welcomes spring with open arms

I was living in a desert far from the sapphire oceans of land

I now reside in a preserve of green enrolled in the knowledge of life

I understand the path I must walk now no matter how hard it was then to leave my shell behind

I have a pomegranate heart, autumn limbs for veins, and spring for feet

Flowers sprout between my toes and hum a symphony of answers in my mind

The dreams of an artist are there in you rooted inside they say

Your dreams of becoming a writer have sprouted they spill from your blood like ink and you are the quill

I run through the forest now filled with maple leaves and somehow, I am not afraid anymore

I have collected new friends, I have anchored myself to my family and I am not alone

I can do all without regret I can kiss away lost lovelorn smiles of last winter’s chilly past

My life now is so different and yet oh so worthwhile
