The Other Me
The other me, the one I always show
The one that's always scared, always says no
I want to branch out, I want to be real
But these wounds, I fear, will never heal
Maybe I can be like someone else, with tons of friends
But the other me protests, it just never ends
It's all just a joke, this popular thing
Picking on the lesser individuals, being purposefully mean
Who wants to be that way? Or have that warped smile
To sink so deep that you will be there for a while
Hopeless, trapped, caged in my fears
Useless, worthless. That's all the other me hears
I begin to change, I begin to grow
The other me has a different feel, a different flow
I walk with confidence, smile with pride
And people I can now call friends join me for the ride
I was born to dominate, I was born to lead
God had looked into my heart and planted a seed
He knew that the other me was all along the real me
It was just going to take some time for me to see
I just needed to let go, to spread my wings and fly
Up and up, high into the neverending sky
Is this what it feels like being happy, being real?
If it is, I'm glad I took this chance, glad I took the wheel
Because the other me was the real me
And the real me is what I was destined to be
I shall take this world and make it mine
Watch me achieve greatness. It's my time to shine
