The Other Side

Staring down the image on the mirror,

I see someone I don’t know.

Squishing my eyes to see clearer.

 A quiet voice says “Hello”.

Quietly waiting for a response,

I’m in a muddle deep inside.

A reply is what the other side wants?

Hello said who? I pried.

Stepping away for a second to think,

‘I heard a voice for sure’.

Not letting my eyes to take a blink,

I peek to get some more.

Pondering on the surreal moment

I can see a resemblance now.

Squeaking a ‘Hi’, being not very cogent,

Still puzzling over, ‘But how?’

Facing the person, on the other side

I lift my arm to wave.

Calmly it looked, smiling really wide.

But soon that began to fade.

Sensing a slack in my apprehension

I pause to think sanely.

What seems to be my self-extension,

Body and mind mainly.

Wondering where my soul had gone,

I take a look again,

And then it hit me like a dawn.

“Hello”, said the soul again.
