In Other Words

When you start speaking to me, I listen.

When you step away, I know it's wrong,

But I listen anyway.

You get angry and yell and complain,

Only when you can't see me.

To my face you lie and say everything is fine.

Whose words did I hear?

They don't match the woman in front of me

and I know that they did not escape my mouth.

People tell me to respect and admire you,

And  I do,

Really.

Next time, use different words,

Next time, I will still listen.

Next time, I will say something.
