For Others

My Uncle is an U.S. Army veteran and we watched him speak at our town's 1st Cowboy Poetry Gathering,

Song of the soul, expression of the blood

reaching out, inpsirin' in floods

Shining the light for others to see

Is the driving force that pushes me

Up and above the clouds in the sky

Lie the stars in waiting, to reach their light

I believe anything is possible, the truth to overcome, the voice that spills out

Washes the land in influential tides,

To reach the clouds helps others reach this sky

It is this voice that needs to be heard, the silence that breaks

Reaches the nerve, ignites the actions, heightens the Earth

Blooms a dream, "The pursuit of happiness", a smile for future generations

The future strong is built by the warm-up, the single action, reaches the shore of

The future "State" of the world that we live in, nobody can stop it, once it gets rollin

It may first start it showers, sprinkles or torrents, but the storm will rage on with no signs of slowin', only proof of risin'

The voice, song, the poem.

Reaches the shores, wild with force

One single action can cause a fire, spansing miles, past the horizon

Igniting souls, the sun lights our eyes up, the light from the water

Floods our souls, fills our lungs and fuels our bones

Nobody can turn their cheek, unless towards the storm

No single action of faith, perseverance can be ignored.

It's from these ashes that Greatness is born, forged in battle, our stripes forever are worn.
