From Our Atoms, To Our Toes

From the molecular bonds that form the parts of me

to the microscopic cells that walk inside of me

I will have no one tell me I am less.

When the wild wind blow

and the starless sky becomes starfull

I will know that not all value resides in gold.

These crashing waves sound like my mother's breath

and this unwavering sea is like her soul.

But now I will never know if it was her or the gold

That made this place so special

from my atoms to my toes.

With a deep breath I shut my eyes and fall back

once more

into your arms

and everything is golden.

Who needs King Midas?

I am in paradise

London, Florida, Madrid, Hawaii

wherever you will

but none have the essence of you

and none contain a universe.

She is an angel, a queen if you will,

queen of the stars.

And suddenly I see it all.

The bees float by

and with my dreamy eyes I cannot help but stare

as the pollen is swung around from bee to peony

and it blossoms.

And with my lazy eye I cannot help but see

the way you stretched your arms and made galaxies

and suddenly I see a universe.

I see the crashing seas and little men

dancing around what appears to be light.

I see the way your irises churn in a world of green

where all is inevitable

and I see how a single hair

can be so small and powerful

and I am overcome with ideas.

From our atoms to our toes I see the constant movement and light and joy.

I see the way you call her name and things that make your cheek glow.

The carasouel spins and cheers of glee are heard and I see, I see, I see

a billion things.

I see the glitter in the dust; everything is awesome.
