Our Bridge

All was once clear and still. That water which passed under bridge, With almost certain faith of that which will Be waiting beyond a distant ridge - Flowed away, and passed away That hope of mine to cross. As snow-melt rush swept away That bridge which now is lost. - Though little I walked that further shore, Its gentle paths and graceful light, I have come to know its simple lore Only now I see it - with distant sight. - So much more there was to see, In that land of secret hill and tree, A hidden darkness there may be. But gone now is that bridge between you and me. - Such a day there may Such a day there might Our bridge to be relayed And restore what's lost to sight. - Until such time our bridge remade I wait, thinking and watching that shore For some sign of change and hope it will restore Out bridge to that - we first had made.
