Our Bubble

In the deepest trench yet found

below the coldest touch of seas,

there’s an alcove underwater,

and it’s meant for you and me.

And it’s bubble will protect us,

and it’s glass will yield a show

of all the black sea-dwelling creatures

those on land have yet to know.

And we’ll rest there on the seafloor,

smiling up to earth’s dry sands,

and as glass begins to shutter

we’ll still be laying hand in hand.
