Our Greatest Feat

So, I was sitting in on a religious war the other day...

Something hit me...

Surrounded by my comrades, at each others throats, drawing blood all over my grandfathers small old bible and...

Something hit me...

We had just had the times of our lives, laughing at nothing in particular at the edge of our small towns world...

It hit me hard...

My friends drew up questions that formed bullets, bayonets at the ends of every question...

My memories are my war scars...

And as I sat silently, watching my one equally faithful comrade hang onto to her final breaths...

Such a nice girl, that one...

I began to string together one question of my own, and form a small thesis paper for the four war vets in front of me...

An atom bomb would solve this problem fast...

My question was simple, but every atom is, and with a flash I dropped my destruction upon their philosophies and beliefs...

I hope I made God proud...

I cut into their topic with my cutlass in hand, and aimed it between the eyes of every last one of them...

My hands trembled, my eyes watered. Normal for one not used to killing...

My point was as follows:

While it is good to talk about what separates us drastically,

Let us not forget what brings us together in everything, practically,

You see, you all often look at each other as foreign parts,

When in actuality we are parts strung together mathematically,

We were all born so close together that we stand together today,

And whether a higher being did this we'll not know either way,

So let us not forget what we do now right here and now,

Because life with you all is so amazing, that I'm surprised it took me till now to say.

Let's cut ourselves some slack, you and I, and call a momentary truce,

because believe it or not right now we're all we've got, and bickering will only choke that by the noose.

We're all pretty amazing, one amazingly pretty, i must say,

So much in fact that i dare say fact, and despite belief must feel rather gay.

I see our couple, standing here, asking how the other can believe,

such outrageous stories of creation brought them together,

how can they that believe?

I feel i must remind you both that no matter how life was made,

It WAS made, and by despite the absence of instructions,

you both happen to agree on the important things one and the same.

You both love the outdoors,

and games,

and food,

and people,

and day,

 and night,

and, I dare say, each other.

And that love of life is why you're together, not what you think.

You both love life.

And I love life when I see you two loving it.

So...

...never forget that.

Never forget that we all get to do one of the greatest things we will ever get to do.

Live.

(End Dialogue)

And that was how I ended a war amongst such innocent friends and lovers...

Dramatic, I will admit...

But in his silence, and the wetness of her eyes...

Disgustingly dramatic, admittedly...

I heard cheering, because the war was over...

So never forget to remember...

To always live first...

And ask questions later...
