Our hearts On Fire

Oh life- with its twists and turns

This love in my heart brightly burns

Kept locked away for who knows who

But you reached inside and saw it was for you.

Though it’s cold and dismal outside

The sky darkened by clouds where rain drops abide

The wind is asleep, yet the scent of roses on the air does ride.

I lift my eyes to the sky, and feel a kiss of rainfall gently on my face.

But even so I long for your lips to take it’s place.

Hearts floating all around, some lay on the ground.

I see you bend over and lift one that you’ve found,

Is that my heart that was on the ground?

But it’s a bruised and tattered one you’ve found.

One that was tossed and thrown around.

I saw it was yours and you handed it to me

And my love began to heal it as gently as could be.

Now flowers begin to fall all around

As we, locked in a sweet kiss, tumble to the ground.

A more perfect love can not be found

I turn, teary eyed, to gaze at those broken hearts on the ground

Then look deeply into your eyes thanking God for the love we’ve found.
