Our history

As children we don't know much about our  African history

due to the government white washing our textbooks

Until now we didn't even know what we were except as slaves or as members of the civil rights movement.

Now we know the truth and are horrified to see that many of our people have never been known because when they returned to their rightful place in the sky, their graves have been unmarked unknown , unnamed for centuries

The African Burial Ground gives those unnamed souls some closure and a chance to be remembered. Those who were forced to come to New York as slaves never to see the mother country can now be known as those who never lost faith. And we these citizens of the city that never sleeps can achieve that.
