Our Job

Standing and waiting and loaded with gear.

Each moment passing inflicts more fear.

The time has come to do my job.

Those behind us stand and sob.

We're given order to carry out.

We'll get it done without a doubt.

We know what is coming as we get in the plane.

The sky grows dark; it begins to rain.

We're cleared to take off as the pilot lets off the brake.

I pray to God, "Help me not to quake."

They give it some throttle and begin to move.

I feel the force. I'm in the groove.

We get our job done and head back for the base.

We did our job well and didn't leave a trace.

Again and again we do similar tasks.

We gome above and beyond and rarely relax.

It's time to go home now. We've dont our work well.

To see those who love us will make us feel swell.

We know what we did and they never will.

We did what we had to, but we'll never tell.
