Our Linchpin

Along the shore

Where the water leaves its mark

Is where you and I

Will end and start.

In daily trips and weekly swims

In hours passing

And time racing in.

In shifting tides

And falling waves.

These are the days

That you and I

Refuse to count

Because they will last forever.

And though the moment will fade

And tomorrow will be the new “today”,

The memories will always

Be etched into our brain.

And as we separate

And go our own ways

I am sure that you will find

Just as well as I

That time never stops

And that life will go on

And though we won’t have the Delaware river

To worship as a linchpin,

We will always have the sunsets that we watched

Dancing behind our eyes

And at the forefront of our minds.
