Our Love Story.

My heart lay, a crumpled mess.
Waiting for your sweet caress.
You picked me up and gave me hope.
Opened my eyes and helped me cope.
I found comfort in your embrace,
And you lit up my whole face.
Our hearts pumped faith and love.
But life gave us quite a shove.
We drifted apart and left a void.
Wound up confused, and annoyed.
We tried to fix it, tried to understand.
But you were a broken man.
Time, you said. But too much passed.
I didn't think I could last.
My senses dulled and I lost faith.
I became a shadow, a wraith.
Just when I was losing myself,
You came for me and nursed me back to health.
I found it hard to trust
But for you, I knew I must.
I had to make a difficult choice.
But I remembered your smile, your voice.
I had tried to move on to no avail.
I had to tell her this; I had to fail.
We slowly built up what we had once known.
It was hard, and sometimes I felt so alone.
But the love had never left,
You had long ago committed theft.
My heart you stole, and it's yours to hold.
You poured in warmth and chased away the cold.
Now we stand together, an unstoppable force.
No more regret, no more remorse.
