To Our Mother

Open doors of the house

Never quiet as a mouse

Cleaning we see once again

Rearranging furniture to no end

Cigarette smoke and pine sol

Scents familiar to us all

From ocean breeze to city wind

Following flees and houses to mend

Through the worst of the storms

Resilient your love still warms

Even though things of the past are gone

I know this memory will still live on

You, our ship to safety when the tide swept us out

You, our compass to lead us back in rout

I can describe this in many ways

But there’s no need of such a maze

It is Mother’s day, this is fact

And your our mom simple as that.
