our rainbow of love

it started out red

burning, fiery, and filled with desire

so many hopes and so many plans

then it was orange

bright, eye-catching, carrying so much potential

filled with declarations of love and promises of peace

next it was yellow

soft and gentle

the sparks wer gone, but the love was present

filled with the laughs, the dreams, and the uncertainties

then came green

was it love or was it fear?

oh my darling it was love laced with fear

the beginning of the end, we became victims of teenage love

next it was blue

we were such fools to think we'd survive

to think we'd recover, come out alive

i could recite your voicemail

tell everyone how it felt to hear you cry

oh darling then it was purple

i knew i lost you

i knew it was gone

i knew it was over

before you even said done

i begged you to stay

"it's okay, we're different, we can get through this"

but then i realized

the monsters under my bed, they were in my head

and their voices

sounded a lot like you
