Our Reflection

We all go through the hardships in life

Never wondering how we got here today,

Or how we fought for the now with all of our might

Even if we are proud or successful

we look at ourselves with questioning eyes

Not even knowing why we are regretful.

Regretful that we didnt take action in a time or place

or regretful that we didn't say what we wanted

So regretful its hard to look at our face.

Through life it is full of statistics and hate

full of pain and guessing

Though if we try hard enough we can always beat fate

To say what we want rather than to look on

And for once to stand up to our fears

And to be proud of what we can become

To finally jump into the race

Protecting those who need protection,

And maybe then when we look at our face,

We can smile at our reflection
