Our Separation

Ever since day one, we knew this’d be our fate. Our separations were frequent. Stretched far between dates. Those times were just practice— teaching us how to wait… For now our separations are longer than our actual meetings. I can only feel brief excitement at the thought of future greetings because I know after that greeting it won’t be long til you’re leaving… Til we have to say goodbye again. Til we have to give each other that final hug again. Til I have to feel the pain of not being by your side again… Our separation will never defeat me though. Its power is minimal. The moments we share together could destroy it with a 1 newton blow. That’s all it would take because those moments fill me with an unimaginable strength- a strength that allows me to overcome anything our separation throws my way. a strength that that makes my love for you grow each day. a strength that never diminishes or ever goes away. a strength that gives me the power to stay for I’d rather see you for one day out of a year then to never again be able to experience what it’s like for us to be near. Our separation is trademark of sorts- it’s kind of our “thing.” It’s something that’s always been with us- like a yoyo and its string. I honestly can’t imagine us without our separation. I picture it now almost as probation- it’s testing us- challenging our duration. Even at the start with our flirtation our separation was part of the equation. I don’t know how long until we find salvation but I know the result will be something amazing. It already is.
