Our Stars

I asked you for some stars

You told me to follow you

But the deeper into the forest

The less I could see the real view

The farther away from home

The more pain you took away

It’s just me you and the stars

Nothing else to say

I remember when you asked for water

I took you to the sand

We walked on the coast for hours

The world resting in our hands

Then the night grew faster than day

And the moon came to say hi

Not a single other friend here

But billions in the sky

I remember the first time I felt light

You were right there by my side

It was warm and bright oh I miss the light

From the stars way up high

Then you asked for some patience

So I waited in the sea of stars

With the water, stars, light and you

The whole world can be ours

But when you stopped asking

I knew something wasn’t right

Then my eyes open back up

And I start to see the light

But not from our stars

This just feels wrong

I take a look around and realize

You were never there all along
