Our Tomorrow

I see the bombs within your hands

And the scars against your heart

I can hear the memories of yesterdays

Of bullets too close

But not far enough from a friend

I feel the battle within you

Raging on against you

And every action and inaction you've ever committed

But today you stand against all that may strike me down

And whisper the promises of tomorrow

You find solace within these hands of mine

Reminding me I am yours

Against the screaming inside your mind

You find strength to tell me

"It will be ok"

And with you

it is

So we walk together

into the sweet tomorrows you've built for me
