Our Turn Now
I am a part of the minority
Fighting to be heard by the majority
Why?
Cause we have been whipped into complacency
With promises and hopes of equality
Integrity, freedom, honesty in our society
Cause we put a black man in the presidential seat?
Feeding us the bull shit in the form of the American Dream
Like attaining the dream is far easier than it seems
Telling us "Me and You we're the same you see
Now lay your lives on the line for our greed
For the land of the free
Continue to fight for the country that disowns you with ease
And continues to treat you like a disease"
And day by day by day
We sit and we watch and we pray
and hope that God will show us the way
As we let society turn us back into slaves
And when we're done playing their games
We lay silently in our graves, no delay
While our families arrange arrays of flower bouquets
No one wants to call the foul play, so
We fall prey as they wine and dine on the lives we offer like a buffet
But me personally?
I'm tired of being tired
Like I'm letting the world opress my success
I'll never be a part of the system that tries to make me a statistic
and throw me away with no resistance
Guarateeing there is no freedom for our well being
Insisting we'll meet the bare minimum of life if they lead us
But I'm fed up!
I'm fed up of shutting up
While my brother's get locked up
And my sister's get knocked up
And we fall into a cycle of misery
Where the concept of a family
Is only on TV
I'm ready to step up
And empower my people to their right to pursue hapiness
and not be stuck in bitterness
I'm ready to wage war!
To finally hear the roar of a people's anger and frustration and pain
We will never let up
We will never bow down
It's OUR TURN NOW
