On Our Way Up

He didn't want

What I could give

He needed

What I couldn't give

So I gave

And gave

Until I caved

Until my skin melted

Until I was nothing

But bone

He dug open old wounds

And left me alone

He forgot

To say I love you

And the lights went out

But you're here

I don't even really know

If I know you

You're here

You're closer

Then you've ever been before

We're slipping under

Crossing that line

And I'm scared

Terrified

I'm walking on thin ice

But your hands in my hair

Feel really nice

And it's been a long time

Since someone's looked in my eyes

And didn't look away

I'll make room

For you

If you make room

For me too

I'll live with this risk

I'll take this chance

If you promise me

You'll save me a dance

Tell me

It's going to be okay

Tell me

You'll pack everything up

Last moment

And run away with me

I can't wait to see

How this goes down

But I have a feeling

You'll stick around

Even when it all falls apart

You're not him

I'm not her

We're speaking a new language

On a new world

This air

We're breathing

Is so much easier to inhale

You and I

We're going to survive this

We'll start a new

And the poison from the last kiss

WIll fade away

You'll take me for what I am

And stay

And we'll be okay

We're really on our way

On our way up
