Our Worlds

Thu, 11/26/2015 - 16:26 -- EmmeM

When I look around me I no longer see faces

All I see are people whose minds are in other places

No one speaks; no one tries to be heard

Just keep your head down, and immerse yourself in another world

I always thought connection was between you and me

Not between you and a screen

I try to speak, I try to be heard

But you keep your head down, and I crawl back into my world

When I hear a voice lacking a robotic tone

My heart is filled with hope and it gives life to my bones

We talk, but neither of us is heard

Their heads are still down, and we’ve done nothing to change our world

When I look around I no longer see faces

Just people who are happy to be in other places

Maybe no one speaks, maybe no one is heard

Because all of our heads are down, to each other’s worlds
