ours are the same

today in class my teacher talked of hormones that cause love

how it’s not really understood

it really got me thinking

there’s really a difference between loving something, falling in love,

and being in love

i love puppies, chipotle, naps, the smell of rain, music,

sunsets at the beach, fuzzy socks, the waves in the ocean,

the way the trees look after it snows

but i fell in love with the way you look at me,

and the laugh you make when i don’t let you let go of a hug,

and the way your eyes sparkle like the ocean when you get really excited about something.

but being in love is being able to share all the things you love with the person you fell in love with

it’s binge watching the office all day and driving ridiculous long to see the perfect sunset

and having the time of my life even when we’re grocery shopping for your grandma

it’s finding joy and happiness and bliss in even the dumbest of things

walking around walmart or going on errands or those drives to the bank

and loving every second of it

solely because i got to be with

you.

love is one note

it’s enjoying something and knowing it makes you happy.

falling in love is getting those little butterflies

every time you’d text me that you were outside to pick me up

and then realizing one day that all i wanted to do was see you again.

that when you weren’t there something was missing,

a part of me was missing.

being in love is those butterflies never stopping

and knowing every second of every day

that you’re mine and you always will be.

knowing that

whatever souls are made of, ours are the same”.
