outcast

those light up shoes

and that faint bruise

show off in the light

the light which highlights my

transition to higher grades

but one day, light up shoes

and bruises from tag weren't the norm

in fact they were the cause of a storm

of laughter and embarrassment

inching towards to my ego

even though the mask that tried to protect me

shattered.

tears were shed and anger fizzled

when i learned that i was belittled

and that no one stood up for me

ego bruised and shoes gone,

angst started to form

was this fair towards me?

if only i had followed the norm
